Cheerleaders at IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders cheergirls during the match on April 29, 2008. Mumbai Indians won the match.

Bangalore Royal Challengers has hired Washington Red Skins for IPL. The cheerleaders from Washington are travelling with the Bangalore Royal Challengers, the team owned by liquor baron Vijay Mallya, in the Indian Premier League's inaugural Twenty20 tournament.

There's a lot of buzz being generated about these girls. In Bangalore, they are hotter than the Royal Challengers. A considerable number of people who watched the league's opening match in Bangalore last week said they were there to watch the girls more than the match.

Maharashtra government has asked the IPL to seek prior permission for cheerleaders' performances during matches.

When you look into the history of Cheerleaders, are numerous Hollywood and pop stars who cheered crowds in school and college. Halle Berry, Christina Aguilera, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock, Meryl Streep, Renee Zellweger and Madonna were all cheerleaders.

Indian Premier League: Virender Sehwag Rocks

Virender Sehwag decimated the Deccan Chargers with a violent unbeaten 94 as Delhi Daredevils cantered to an easy nine-wicket win in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.

Rohit Sharma's 36-ball 66 had propped up the Deccan Chargers to a modest 142 for eight after the hosts were reduced to 60 for five at one stage.

But with skipper Sehwag on fire, Delhi Daredevils overwhelmed the target in 13 overs losing just one wicket for their second victory in a row.

Sehwag's 41-ball blitzkrieg of 94 not out included 10 hits to the fence, besides six towering sixes.

Actress Preity Zinta, co-owner of the Mohali team, is palpably nervous ahead of their first match against Chennai on Saturday. The Bollywood star was present throughout to cheer her team, much like Shah Rukh Khan a day before.
